The 1-day course covers equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (including ATEX, DSEAR & IECEx). The 2-day course offers an in-depth course on the subject matter.
The 1-day course provides an introduction to this area with an overview of the regulatory structure. It will cover methods of protection for electrical and non-electrical equipment. It deals with the certification of equipment by independent third parties and ‘self-certification’. The course covers the safe use of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres, including zoning, equipment selection, installation and maintenance.
The 2-day course goes beyond basic regulatory structure, and assists delegates with the main complexities that can arise when dealing with methods of protection for electrical and non-electrical equipment. This will include the use of official Guidelines, industry Codes of Practice, and IECEx documentation, such that delegates will know how to find information to answer practical implementation questions. The scope of the course includes safe use of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres, including the main Area Classification (commonly known as zoning) standards zoning, equipment selection exercises, plus installation and maintenance, introducing the recommended documentation that gives evidence that they are completed appropriately.
HSE managers, machine manufacturers, purchasing managers and people new to ATEX and DSEAR regulations, facilities managers, engineering managers, production managers, safety managers, process engineers, quality engineers, designers, production team leaders and anyone else who is responsible for managing, specifying and purchasing equipment or using equipment covered by ATEX and DSEAR regulations.
The courses will consist of a combination of presentations, exercises and worked examples and will involve interactive participation with question-and-answer sessions. The day(s) will run from 09.00 to 16.30, with breaks for refreshments and lunch. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
