The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HSAW) is the main overarching occupational health and safety legislation in the UK.
From the HSAW more generic workplace safety legislation has been generated as well hazard specific regulations.
The main workplace regulation is PUWER (Provision and use of work equipment regulations) which applies to all employers and all equipment supplied for use at work.
If you have any dangerous substances that can cause a fire or explosion (including dusts that you might generate as part of your operations) then the DSEAR regulations need to be applied.
